Traveling Vest Virginia
Touch The Earth Nature Trail
Get Back To Nature In Jackson County

EYEWITNESS ONLINE WEBCAST VIDEO

When you think of going out for a hike, a county technical school probably doesn't come to mind, but that's exactly where a beautiful and uniquely different nature trail is located in Jackson County. The Touch The Earth nature trail is the creation of forestry instructor John Fichtner and his students. His goal was to provide hands on real life forestry instruction to his students. The result is an interpretive series of trails through managed wetlands, native grass lands, and hardwood forests. The project began in 1990 on 50 acres behind the Roane Jackson Technical School in Leroy, West Virginia and has become a shining example of what natural land management is all about. The area is open to the public and is free of charge, so dust off your hiking boots and head for Jackson County.
