![]() Page Vawter House Saving And Sharing A Fayette County Landmark
![]()
The Page Vawter House at Ansted is a Fayette County landmark, which is as treasured for its beauty as it is for its history. The site of the stately mansion from Hwy 60, even while in its deteriorated state, caused people to stop, take pictures and pause to imagine its beauty in its prime. Well imagine no more! In August of 2006, Jim and Debbie Campbell were on a long awaited trip, revisiting the area that Debbie's parents had grown up in. Unexpectedly rerouted through the small town of Ansted, the couple spotted the house and were instantly intrigued...this beautiful old home caught their eye and captured their hearts and best of all...was available for purchase! Having already restored two other homes on the west coast, Jim and Debbie bought the house and began a much needed restoration bringing the old home back to it's original condition. Now the Campbells are eager to share their treasure with the public by providing Christmas tours throughout the holidays, and Jim and Debbie have decorated for Christmas in a big way inside and out. House tours are available on specific dates listed on their website, and the proceeds from this Sunday's tour (December 9th at 4pm) will benefit the New River Humane Society in Fayette County.
