![]() Appalachian Clogging Team Keeping Traditional Dance Alive
The Appalachian Studies program at Davis and Elkins College seeks to promote awareness about the cultural and environmental heritage of the Appalachian region within the context of the modern world. Within the program is a unique opportunity for students to earn college credit by joining the school's clogging team and the opportunity to learn traditional Appalachian dance. Davis and Elkins is the only college in West Virginia to offer such a program.
The team performs locally and regionally to live music provided by The Appalachian String Band. In accordance with the liberal arts mission of the college, the interdisciplinary program represents the commitment of Davis & Elkins College to the region that is its home. Students in the program will be provided with historical context and sufficient background to address contemporary issues related to living and working in the Appalachian region. FOR MORE INFORMATION
