A Local Luthier Creates Louder Mandolines
Taking advantage of his skills as a machinist and jet engine mechanic, Glen Dean Cecil of Davis Creek decided to become a luthier, a maker of stringed instruments, specifically violins and mandolins. Dissatisfied with his purchase of a name brand mandolin years ago, Glen set about researching and creating a way of making his mandolins much louder and easier to play. These days his instruments are highly sought after and played with a lot of pride. Several secret factors go into each one of Glen's creations, making the instrument resonate with increased volume and clarity. Always searching and researching for improvements, Glen takes a great deal of pride in producing each one of his mandolins, the sweet sounds they produce confirm that he's certainly in tune!
