In an effort to live a more holistic lifestyle, Steve Gormezano moved to rural Roane county in 1975 and began living off the land. He discovered elephant garlic growing on his farm that was planted in the 1930's. Steve cultivated it and began growing garlic in a big way. Having won several garlic competitions for the size of his bulbs, Steve has branched out into furniture making and tree bark basket making, all the raw materials coming directly from his Roane county farm. "Some folks call me the Johnny Appleseed of garlic," says Steve. After a visit to Holy Cow Farm, you'll understand why.
