Traveling Vest Virginia
Woodchopping Festival

A 45 Year Tradition in Webster County

EYEWITNESS ONLINE WEBCAST VIDEO

Each Memorial Day weekend, the Southern U.S. World Championship Woodchopper title is won at the annual Webster County Woodchopping Festival in Webster Springs, West Virginia. The festival has grown out of a long timbering heritage from which has come some of the finest woodchoppers and lumbermen in the world. The choppers come from as near as the scenic mountains of Webster County and as far away as Australia and New Zealand to compete.

Over the years, the festival has become much more than a competition, it has evolved into a family reunion for current and former Webster County residents. Families are reunited, friends get reacquainted, and it all takes place every Memorial Day weekend in scenic Webster Springs.
