Traveling Vest Virginia
Maple Syrup Makers

A Sweet Sign Of Early Spring

EYEWITNESS ONLINE WEBCAST VIDEO

Larry Harris and his brother Richard, along with their longtime friend Claude, grew up in rural Greenbrier County in the small community of Grassy Meadows. Having always been attached to the land, the three retired men have been making pure maple syrup since 2003. Cold nights followed by sunny days get the maple trees sap flowing. With hundreds of maple trees tapped and/or attached by hoses, these men start tapping trees in mid February and don't stop until the sap stops running. It takes 50 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup so every drop is precious, and the taste is not to be believed...pure with no preservatives, better than anything you'll by at the grocery store!
