"We've become a throw-away society," says Andy Arther, son of the owner of Fife Street Shoe Shop. "Some folks don't even know there is shoe repair." Residents of Charleston are well aware of show repair and no one's been doing it longer than the folks at Fife Street Shoe Shop. Opened in 1920, the shop is certainly a throw-back to an earlier time. The goal is to repair shoes to their original look and feel. Not only shoes, but belts, purses, boots, anything that has to do with leather. So don't throw those shoes away!
