![]() Old Sweet Springs A famous WV resort gets a facelift.
Built in the 1700's Old Sweet Springs Resort in Monroe County became the retreat for weary city dwellers until it's closure in the 1930's. The main attraction was the natural spring water from the Peter's Mountain aquifer. Several US presidents and Robert E. Lee were frequent visitors. Today, a Monroe County couple is restoring the resort to its former glory while producing bottled water from the original spring. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Sweet Springs Resort remains a much desired destination for family's wanting to get away from it all.
