![]() Rocking Chairs He's known for his beautiful and unique chairs made in the mountains of West Virginia. Travel to Wayne county and meet a man that rocks!
Fred Friar has been working with wood since he was 12 years old. He always made furniture for his friends and family, but it wasn't until his daughter asked him for a rocking chair for his soon arriving grandson that Fred began marketing his chairs. Using only West Virginia grown hardwoods whenever possible, Fred's chairs have become famous worldwide. From his small workshop in rural Wayne county, Fred makes about 10-15 chairs each year. Every one is unique and tailored to his customer's needs. Attention to detail and fine craftsmanship have become his trademark. These chairs are certainly made to last and become family heirloom items.
