Second Creek in Monroe County West Virginia, is only 25 miles long, but at one time, there were over 20 mills located on the stream. Having never been known to run dry, Second Creek was the perfect location for grist, lumber, hammer, powder, and woolen mills since the late 1700's. Reed's Mill is one of the few still standing, and the only one still operating to this day, having been in continuous operation since 1791. Owner Larry Mustain continues a family tradition of grinding corn, buckwheat and wheat into flour and meal the same way his uncle did before him. Visiting Reed's Mill is like stepping back in time, when life moved at a much slower pace, and the mill was a gathering place for everyone in the community. Don't miss this historic spot in the Greenbrier Valley.
