 HILLSIDE WOOD Wood you call scrap, Jim Labaw calls art, visit Hillside Wood in Calhoun county, West Virginia.
Jim Labaw of Calhoun County suffered from polio in his youth, but that certainly didn't stop him from living an interesting life. His love of woodcrafting led him all over the world, teaching industrial arts to military families stationed overseas. Now retired but staying busy, Jim created Hillside Wood, his own business and wood shop at his home in rural Calhoun County. Using wood that his wife Mary trims off hardwood trees on their property, Jim carves intricate and interesting bowls, bracelets, and a full line of one of a kind jewlery. Jim says he loves using material that most folks would burn or through away.
