![]() HELVETIA CHEESE HAUS Behold the power of cheese! Swiss cheese that is, in Helvetia!
When Swiss immigrants came to rural Randolph County in the 1860's, they brought with them the tradition of cheese making. As the small community of Helvetia began to grow, so did the popularity of the village cheese. Rick and Nancy Krogh are carrying on that tradition at the Cheese Haus. Called Helvetia Gold, the delicious Swiss cheese is made from whole milk that the Krogh's gather from their eight cows. Making an average of 80lbs of cheese every three days, Rick and Nancy sell out of the product frequently. Helvetia cheese is aged for 60 days before it is put out for sale, this allows the true flavor to come through. If you visit Helvetia, and cheese is available, you'd better stock up! This delicious cheese is always in high demand. Rick is also the town beekeeper, and operates "Healing Honey" next door to the Cheese Haus. Helvetia may be off the beaten path, but it is well worth the journey..
