 WALKING STICKS This artist walks softly and carries a big stick that is a wonderful work of art. Travel to Roane county and meet a man that carves walking stick.
Michael Vickery has been an artist and woodcarver since his childhood. An avid hiker and backpacker, Michael carved a few walking sticks for he and his wife. That's where his walking sticks began. They are more than functional, they are definitely works of art. Carved from the root of 10 year-old maple trees, Michael's stick run the gamut from snakes to squirrels, fish, salamanders, hummingbirds even dragons!
