George Gray Host of The Weakest Link
Weakest Link host George Gray has always relaxed by tinkering with everyday things. The best way to understand something, says Gray, is to "take it apart and put it back together. If it still works and you haven't wound up in the hospital, chances are that you've done something right. This simple approach, which Gray uses when restoring his collection of vintage cars and motorcycles, served him well as he prepared to audition for the hosting job on NBC Enterprises new, daily version of Weakest Link premiering January 7, 2002 (nationally syndicated, check local listings). Gray stockpiled episodes of Weakest Link and watched them repeatedly. "I knew the best way for me to understand what makes the Weakest Link tick would be to take a good look at the fundamental components of the show." Gray's quick wit and engaging presence served him well as he performed stand-up and sketch comedy and spent some time as an audience warm-up comedian for several television shows. Before being cast on Weakest Link, Gray hosted "Junkyard Wars" (The Learning Channel) for which he shared a 2001 Primetime Emmy Award nomination (Outstanding Non-Fiction Program). His additional television credits include roles in "For Your Love" and "Party of Five," as well as hosting roles on TNT's "Movies for Guys Who Like Movies." Gray's film roles include "Cabin Pressure" (Lions Gate) and "Ophelia Learns to Swim" (Wroughten Films). Gray adds that he has been "left on the cutting room floor of some of Hollywood's greatest hits including 'Stargate' and 'Tombstone.'" Gray was born in St. Louis, Missouri, raised in Tucson, Arizona and currently divides his time between Los Angeles and the historic mining town of Bisbee, Arizona. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona. His birthday is March 11th and he has a 17-pound cat named Stinky. Weakest Link is produced by Weakest Link Productions in association with The Gurin Company, BBC Worldwide and NBC Studios. Phil Gurin is one of the executive producers for the prime time version and will serve as executive producer for the syndicated version. |
