The Produce Corner Recipes
Microwaving Fried Apples

Any variety of apple will work in this recipe, however some work better than others, such as Golden Delicious, Granny Smiths, Romes and Winesap.

Ingredients

  • 8-10 medium sized apples, peeled, cored and cut into sections or pieces
  • 2 Tbs. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. lemon

Directions

Place prepared apples in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle lemon juice over apples and toss gently to coat. Sprinkle soft or melted butter and/or margarine over apples and add brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss thoroughly till brown sugar, lemon, butter and nutmeg coat the apples evenly. Keep tossing (1-2 minutes) till apples begin to weep and a light glaze covers each apple.

Lightly butter a glass or microwave safe baking dish and pour apple mixture evenly into the pan or dish. Cover with plastic wrap and pierce for steam to escape.

Microwave for 8-10 minutes on high. Toss and stir and microwave 4-6 minutes further.

Serve as a side dish to ham, pork, poultry or eggs and biscuits. Also can be served hot as an ice cream topping.

4-6 servings. Delicious!

Enjoy!
