Charleston Time-lapse FAQ Q. Why does the image sometime shake? A. Wind! The camera is mounted at the top of our microwave tower in downtown Charleston, West Virginia. While the "shake" usually isn't noticeable in a live picture, a time-lapse magnifies any movement of the camera. Q. Why does the picture jump to other places? A. The camera, Charleston Towercam, is primarily used by the News Department in their on-air broadcasts. You will frequently see it on Good Morning West Virginia watching traffic delays near the State Capitol. In the afternoon and evening the meteorologists use Charleston Towercam to keep an eye on clouds and approaching weather. Since the camera is on a remote control robotic mount, the view will change depending on who needs to use the camera at any given time. Q. When is the movie updated? A. A new video is available every evening after recording the day's events. Q. What period of time is recorded? A. The Charleston Time-lapse captures every day between 6:00am and 9:45pm ET.
