![]() Hunting Changes
Heath Miles, a wildlife manager with The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, explains the changes, "Right now archery season is going to come in Sept. 29, that's a state-wide archery season, you can bow hunt now Sept. 29th." That's right, a major change gives you a major shot at getting your deer early this year. In fact for the first time -- archery hunters will also have a chance to harvest a bear with bear archery season opening on the same day as deer archery season. However, archery hunters are not the only ones benefiting from these changes.... Deer antler-less season will also becoming in earlier with a three day season in October. "The antler-less season, we will be having one October 26th thru the 27th, that one is private land only, our other doe season is November 19th thru December 1st, as well as December 13th thru the 15th. We're just trying to eliminate more of the antler-less deer, that will make for a longer rut, more frenzied rut." says Miles. With all the changes with this year's hunting regulations, the Division of Natural Resources is encouraging everyone to pick up a copy of the hunting regulations and visit their website to look over their FAQs With hunting season coming in earlier this year, mast conditions looking better, and hunting forecast better than last year --- this should be a great fall to get out in the woods and enjoy some great hunting opportunities.
