During hunting season, you'll find Chris Randolph and his grandfather Roger are out in the woods whenever they get a chance.
Dwayne Sowards goes out with his stepson doing the same thing.
Brandon is just learning the time honored art of calling in a gobbler....he's still working on using a mouth call.

"Yeah, but I can't do them yet....it would be fun to watch on camera." says Dwayne.

A little good natured ribbing from his step-dad..all part of the fun, part of a family tradition that actually started with Dwayne's uncle.

"My dad, he didn't hunt so I started with my uncle, he had all daughters and none of them hunted and he just took me under his wing." says Dwayne.

Now Dwayne's doing the same thing with Brandon. Chris has his grandfather to teach him, but they share a common theme with their buddies.

"It's just family, our future is based on family, it's one thing to raise your family, but at the same time, if you see that the next generation, your grandson come along, you take pride in that." says Rodger.

"It means a lot to me, he's always there for me and now I get to share a part of my life with him." says Chris.

You can see Chris and Roger love spending time in the woods together. Chris has shot one turkey in his short hunting career, but Brandon's still waiting on his first and Dwayne just can't wait to see him bag a gobbler.

"It will just be he and I out there and a lot of one on one time. I'll be excited just to see the excitement on his face when he hears that first gobbler." says Dwayne.

You can bet, none of these guys will ever forget this experience, this bonding, this common love of nature and wildlife getting a chance to grow this weekend when they hit the woods for the youth turkey hunt. The DNR wants to encourage you to do the same thing. Good luck, guys.
