This time of year, hunters are getting a little restless. The animals are up and moving, seemingly everywhere you turn around, but you can't get your gun or bow and get after them. If you like to bow hunt, you might want to give 3D archery a try.

Bill and Dixie Lambert are expert 3D target competitors. In fact, Dixie is one of the best in the country. Bill explains a little about the sport.

"You're out here walking and talking, and you get to look at realistic animals you would normally hunt for. You continue your skills and habit without having to think about every shot, it becomes habit and when you do hunt, you don't think about it, you just react." says Lambert.

Wow...that's a good shot, one Bill and Dixie make again and again on this course. Although this is good stuff, Bill says beginners should not necessarily jump right into 3-d courses.

"I would get me a target, go up to a target store, someone who knows about archery and get your bow set up to fit you, you do a 20 yard bale before you go to 3D because it's difficult because you have fixed distance before you come out here and start guessing the distance of the animals themselves." says Lambert.

Bill says you need one more thing before hitting the course...you have to just love being outside.

The biggest lure of that is just being outdoors. If you don't love the outdoors, you would not care anything about the 3D archery, but a morning like this, or any morning, it's just getting out here, the beauty of nature and just being alive." says Lambert.
