"I've been hunting with my dad since I was little."

Mary Jo and her little sister Tess are regulars when their dad hits the woods to go hunting.

Keith Krance says:
"As soon as the kids were old enough to go on a walk, I got them out in the woods."

And it's been a lifetime of exploring, and hunting, for his girls ever since.

Keith Krance says:
"Mary Jo's the oldest, she's 15 and we've been doing this probably 13 years. We started off just waking in the woods and romping around and having a good time and exploring, that kind of stuff, before we even started thinking about going hunting. Tessa, she's been doing this since she was about 3 as well."

This is deer season and the mountains of West Virginia look beautiful in the snow. The bucks are moving and so are Keith and his daughters. This is just like any other hunt playing out all over the state, and Keith says that's the way you have to look at it if you're trying to figure out how to get your girls interested in hunting.

Keith Krance says:
"I think a lot of times, dads are a little intimidated by daughters, I know I was at the very beginning. As soon as you realize they're still kids and they want to be with their parents, I don't see a whole lot of difference in them."

Keith says kids are kids, they all get excited at the chance to get their first deer. Tessa was sure fired up to get her first shot at a deer during the youth hunt this year, even if things didn't really work out.

Tess says:
"It was fun, but I couldn't get a shot at one because I was laying down and the barrel was kind of shaking so I couldn't get it."

That's happened to a lot of us, Tess. Keep trying, and good job guys. For West Virginia Wildlife, I'm Patrick McMurtry Eyewitness News.
