There's nothing quite like the National Hunting And Fishing Days weekend-just ask the 20,000 folks who turned out last year.

This year, there's some new stuff to see and do.

Jerry Westfall/DNR says:
"There are a couple of new demonstrations, we have a squirrel skinning and field dressing demonstration in addition to the deer field dressing and skinning demonstration and we also have a tree stand safety demonstration in an effort to combat the growing problem of tree stand mishaps.

"There's a new seminar on how hunters can best care for thier trophies to take them to the taxidermist to prepare the best possible mount."

That sounds like some good information to have. Of course you'll also be able to do all your favorite things you've enjoyed at past National Hunting And Fishing Days.

Jerry Westfall/DNR says:
"We have fly fishing instruction, we have big buck displays, trophy fish displays, a number of activities for both young folks and adults, public shooting events, 22's, muzzle loaders, shotguns, there's 3-d archery instruction."

The place will be packed and the DNR is making a special effort to get even more kids to attend.

Jerry Westfall/DNR says:
"We've extended an invitation to all boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts and brownies to attend the event fo rabsolutely free if they wear thier uniform. We have expanded the outdoor youth challenge."

If you get a chance, hit Stonewall Jackson Resort this weekend, and be sure and stop me and say hi.
