![]() Bowhunting Couple
Bill Lambert/Archer says: "I enjoyed hunting so much, we enjoyed shooting at 3-d ranges and my wife and I are close, so naturally she had to have a bow. It's like anything else, you get the cheaper kind because you don't want to invest a whole lot at firswt and as we shot together, she got better." That's an understatement. Dixie is one of the best women archers in this neck of the woods. You might call her a dual threat...She feels just as comfortable at a competition as she does in her tree stand. Dixie Lambert says: "We shoot competition from April through October and we start hunting season October through December. Hunting, I just like being outdoors, in the tree stand, the first thing in the morning when the sun comes up. Shooting competition, you get lots of people from all over the world and you can make friends." Shooting is a sport that takes practice, and the right equipment. Patrick McMurtry/Eyewitness news says: "The end of August is the perfect time to get out to a range and check out your equipment. If you're just starting out, it's important that you go to a pro to make sure you get the right bow. If you start out right, you'll have a better chance of being successful and that means you have a better chance of taking up a sport that will last you a lifetime." Dixie Lambert/Archer says: "If you're a beginner and you pick that bow up, you don't know if it's the right poundage, draw length or anything like that." All key aspects to picking up the sport...And take it from a champion like dixie, bowhunting is for everyone. For west virginia wildlife, i'm patrick mcmurtry, eyewitness news. <
