![]() Bow Fitting
"I'm coming in looking for a bow, I'm not an expert, just looking to be able to get a buck at 30yds. No problem, would you happen to know your draw length? No. Stick your hands out like this, you're a 30" draw, but if you're using a release, we need to take about 1" off." Getting the right bow isn't as easy as just walking up to the counter and taking one home. If you want to be successfull in the woods, you need to put in some time getting fit and getting your bow set up exactly how you need it. Jamie is ready to help me out. Patrick McMurtry/Eyewitness News and Jamie ??/Gander Mtn. say: "It's just like holding a rifle, everytime you look through that rifle scope, you want to do the same thing every time. A bow is the same way, you want to look through that peep site the same way every time. If you move your head, it will make you shoot different every time." I guess I'm moving my head every time. Jamie says I need a kisser. You want to come down a little bit like that right there. You want to touch the corner of your mouth. I'll turn this, don't move your head, leave your head in the same spot. You need to be able to see all you pins up and down, if you can't, it needs to be moved up and down. That's good right there. This is why it's important to spend some time with an expert before you go out this bow season. Even someone who knows what they're doing can't make your bow right for you if you're not there. Jamie Withrow/Gander Mtn. says: "I can't sight a bow in for you, I can get it close, I can't set this until you shoot and i can get set up and ready to go." I'm still not in the center of the target, but Jamie's done all he can. The rest is up to me. See you at the checking station!
