We all know about the magnificent black bears ruling the mountains and woods of West Virginia, but did you know about the fisher? It was once even more sought after than the bear because of it's beautiful fur. Now you can get one on your very own wall. The 2006 Wildlife Calendar is out.

Art Shomo/DNR PIO
"Each month has the regular calendar but it has lots of other stuff, too. Like when the great horned owl state nesting and when you need to put your hummingbird feeder out and stuff like that. It also has, of course, suggested best time for fishing."

It also has an article on a pretty good bait to use for fishing-crayfish. You'll get regulations on fishing, too. But this wildlife calendar isn't just for those folks who like to hunt and fish.

Art Shomo/DNR PIO
"This calendar has something for everyone, whether you're a hunter or not, an angler or just a back yard wildlife enthusisiast, birds in your backyard. It has all the hunting dates listed as well as when to put out your bird feeder and what kind of feed to use."

In this calendar, the artwork and the beautiful scenes they paint are the real stars. Even if you don't have a teal of your own, you can have a teal on your wall. Can't wait to get together with your dad to go canoeing? There's a picture to keep the memory of your last trip fresh in your mind. There is also plenty of info packed into the pages.

Art Shomo/DNR PIO
"It also has a feature article on different species. This year it's on the martin of WV and also on crayfish in WV and another article on invasive plants and why they cause problems

All news you can use in a calendar you'll never want to throw away.

The 2006 Wildlife Calendar sells for $8.00 and you can get them through the DNR, State Parks and other retail outlets.
