"It's always a changing process. We're always trying to make it a little bit better."

This is the time of year folks all over west virginia wait for-the annual Division of Natural Resources calendar is finally available. Filled with beautiful pictures of West Virginia animals and scenery, these calendars are a hot item every Christmas.

Jim Fregonara
W.Va. DNR Biologist
"We have people calling our office from all over the country and even in different parts of the world and they make really excellent Christmas presents and a lot of people who've had family leave West Virginia, we do send the calendars out across the country and all over the world."

This is more than just a collection of pictures showing deer in the snow, quail, blue birds or even wise old owls. These calendars are also chock full of fun facts about the animals you'll find roaming our state.

Jim Fregonara
W.Va. DNR Biologist
"When to put up hummingbird feeders, when's a good time to go out and practice shooting a bow and arrow to get ready for bow season, the best time to go out scouting different areas for hunting."

"How far certain animals can jump, when bears go into hibernation or when they come out or when birds begin to actually breed and start laying their eggs."

These little factoids are all over the calendar. You won't have to look far to find information about trout stocking, antler shedding or even when to prune your trees. And every page has prints of museum quality artwork.

Jim Fregonara
W.Va. DNR Biologist
"Our most recent calendar, we had over 250 pictures and applications we had to choose through. That was kinda nice, looking at all the different artists, all the different styles."

The 2005 calendar, with a picutre of a black bear on the cover, is sure to be a hit.
