Legislature OKs tax break for aircraft

CHARLESTON, W.Va.
A bill that slashes property taxes on corporate and commercial aircraft is headed to Governor Manchin for his signature.



The House of Delegates voted 90-6 today to approve the measure.

Supporters of the bill say reducing property taxes will attract more aircraft to West Virginia.

According to a recent survey, only 23 corporate aircraft are based in the state. The five surrounding states together house nearly 1,750.

The other states either don't have a property tax on corporate and commercial aircraft, or have low rates with waivers available.
