Hackers post W.Va. police officers' personal info
February 08, 2012 7:19 AM

The president of the West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association says hackers obtained more than 150 officers' personal information from the organization's old website and posted it online.

William Roper tells the Charleston Gazette that the FBI is investigating. He is also Ranson's police chief.

Roper says a group called CabinCr3w hacked the website Monday and obtained the home addresses, home phone numbers and cellphone numbers of current and retired police chiefs.

The association has a new website. Members' personal information was stored on the old website's database.

Roper says CabinCr3W is affiliated with the hacking collective Anonymous.

Anonymous is a collection of Internet enthusiasts, pranksters and activists whose targets have included Visa and MasterCard, the Church of Scientology and law enforcement agencies.
