California... a roller coaster derails after hitting a tree branch at Six Flags Magic Mountain, injuring four people in the front car. More than two dozen people were stuck twenty feet in the air for more than two hours after the Ninja jumped the track. None of the injuries was serious. The park remained open and other rides were in operation during the rescue effort...

New York... one of the most famous model mammals at the Museum of Natural History is undergoing its annual cleaning. Workers use cranes to reach every inch of the 94-foot-long whale, suspended in the air and weighing ten and half tons. The process will restore the whale's color from dirty gray to blue. The whale has been on display here since 1969...

Kansas... the world's tallest water slide is finally opening in Kansas City. It's more than 168-feet-tall, which is just a little bit taller than the Statue of Liberty. Riders plummet between 60-70 miles an hour on a four-person raft. It opens to the public on Thursday, it was originally set to open in May, but was delayed due to additional testing. And that's the end of the ride on this USA Update.
