Rick Lord History unearthed in Iowa, a skyscraper scare in Illinois, and big bucks for Beatles memorabilia in New York on this USA Update

Reporter: Rick Lord

Iowa... trenches used to train soldiers shipping out to fight in World War I have been found at Camp Dodge. The camp was originally founded in 1909. One of the 16 major containment sites across the U.S. during the war. This site served as training grounds for about 120,000 enlisted men. Satellite imaging led historians to look into the site and they soon confirmed its role in the training of American soldiers...

Illinois... frightening moments for a California family after a floor at Willis Tower began cracking while they were standing on top of it. The glass ledge juts from the building's 103rd floor, and allows visitors to feel like they're standing suspended in air. Officials say a protective coating covering the glass surface cracked, not the glass itself. And they say the cracks didn't affect the structural integrity of the ledge, which opened in 2009...

New York... mementos any die-hard Beatles fan would love are up for auction at Sotheby's. A collection of John Lennon's handwritten manuscripts, sketches, and drawings will be up for bids on June 4th. There are 89 pieces in all, with starting bids ranging from $500 to $70,000, for Lennon's handwritten manuscript of "The Singularge Experience of Miss Anne Duffield." And with that, imagine all the people done watching this USA Update.
