New York... crews in Manhattan finally got flames from a transformer explosion under control. The fire department spent the day at the scene on 51st street between 6th and 7th avenues, just outside the Time-Life building. Witnesses say they heard a loud boom, and then plumes of smoke filled the air. A building across the street was partially evacuated and one person was injured. They believe the transformer shorted out from snow melting with salt...

Missouri... an American Airlines flight makes an unexpected stop in Kansas City after a suspicious device was found in a bathroom. The Boeing 767 made an emergency landing after a flash drive was found in the stall. The plane was then taken to an area away from the terminal and searched, but nothing dangerous was found. The flight took off from San Francisco and was headed to New York...

Washington D.C... the National Zoo is preparing their new panda cub for her public debut later this month. Bao Bao had a tryout in front of the media while she spent the morning climbing on rocks and following her mother around the indoor exhibit. Bao Bao officially goes on display January 18th. And with that, this exhibit is over on this USA Update.
