School: Hurricane Primary Sport: Football Zach Cooper's playing time has increased dramatically over the last couple seasons, paying off in a big way for the Redskins. " Playing linebacker, not like its the most important position, but playing it there is a lot of responsibility and i think i have picked it up nicely and had a good season with it." Cooper made the transistion from defensive back to linebacker this season, and quickly became the Redskins defensive leader. "The coaches will send a play in but if i see something then i have some automatics that i can check to. I feel like i'm the quarterback of the defense which is pretty rewarding." Cooper has also made waves at receiver, where he has become one of Austin Hensley's favorite targets. "I've liked it. Its defiently something new and something that i've gotten used to. Anyway i can help the team just feels good." Zach carries a 4.0 GPA, helping his stats off the field just like he does on it. "To get that good education, i want to be excepted into any school i go to. In high school, i've just been working hard and trying to achieve all of my goals." Hurricane has failed to make it to the semi-finals in the playoffs, a place where Cooper would love to take his team and beyond. "We've never been there but the way we've been working i think we can make that possible. We still have a few hard games left, but if we keep doing what we are doing i think we are going to suprise a lot of people." |
