Primary Sport: Basketball
Its been a long season for Man's Jordan Simpson, but on wedensday night he helped lead his Man Hillbillies to the State Tournament, a place they haven't been since 2005. "I've been here for 4 years and its been a hard road. We were favorites my freshman year and we got upset there. But, its great to do my senior year" Simpson said.
Simpson will leave man as the school's all time leading scorer, a acomplishment that he holds high. "Everyone was asking you at school how many are you away and you just have to keep going and focus on the game. Going into the game was kind of hard to focus we had a good opponent in mingo central and once i got it out of the way i was able to focus on the game."
Earlier this year, Simpson was honored as a Mcdonald's High School All-American, something he shares with only two others in the state. "There's only three in the state and the other two are from Huntington Prep and they are going to pretty big division one schools. So, its a great honor."
Simpson carries a 3.4 gpa, a classroom discipline inspired by his parents. "My Dad and Mom always tell me that school is first before you play ball. Before you go into colleges they are looking at your grades, act scores and all of that stuff."
Jordan's basketball career is not over yet, as he has high hopes for his last days as a Hillbilly. "My goal was to get there first and whatever happens happens, but we are there to win it."
