School: Charleston Catholic
Primary Sport: Basketball
Keaghan Ritchie has been a major part of Charleston Catholic's success so far in 2012, joining his other four seniors in leading the charge. "Its been great playing with my other three seniors and the rest of the guys we have a great team. We've had our ups and downs and hopefully we are going to get on a roll now, and i feel like we've already had a couple of good games so its been fun."
Ritchie was a named a team captain at the start of the season, giving him a lot of responsiblity he was ready for.
"You have a huge leadership role, all the younger classmen look up to you. You are there to support them, everyone has their bad days and you have to be that guy to pick them up and tell them to get their head back in it."
Keaghan comes from a long line of Ritchies who have played at catholic, and no doubt there is a lot of talent and pressure in his family. "I always get teased about being the little Ritchie cause i'm the last in my family. There are three brothers ahead of me, so hopefully i can live up to them and hopefully out do them."
Ritchie carries a 4.2 gpa, and he credits his coach for making grades a priority. "Coach Mclanahan really pushes you to accomplish what you can and i feel like we are accomplishing what we can in both academics and athletics."
The Irish have made it to the state tournament in all of ritchies seasons but have fallen short, and he hopes his last in the uniform brings home a state championship. "I've been dreaming about that since freshman year, and we've been on a little drought lately. Hopefully we can get one this year and hopefully we can keep it going after the seniors leave.
