School: Chapmanville Regional
Primary Sport: Baseball
It's something he's been waiting on for a long time, but on Saturday Josh Easterling and Chapmanville finally got their chance to bring home a state championship with a 8-0 win over Wyoming East.
"This is amazing we've all played together since we were 5 and 6 years old. This is my family out here and we did it, we did it together." Easterling said.
Easterling had a big tournament at the plate, which followed a big regular season. One he owes to his coaching staff.
"I have to credit our coaches, our coaches work us all year long. I have to thank John Adams, he is our hitting instructor. He's with us every night, he works hours and hours and gets paid nothing for it."
Baseball isn't Easterling's only game, he was an all-stater in both football and basketball. Whatever it took to help his hometown.
"I just have to do the best i can and help this school out. I love Chapmanville high school I was born and raised there all my life and I love it with all my heart. Once a Tiger always a Tiger."
Easterling carries a 4.15 GPA, giving credit to his success to someone near to his heart.
"I have to thank my mom for doing that she's pushed me all these years. Everything she's done for me i love her with all my heart and I wouldn't be where I am today without her."
Easterling will head to UC to play football for Pat Kirkland, and he will join the baseball squad, to team up with his uncle Ross
" I'm really excited for it I'm looking forward to getting over there. Coach Kirkland and Coach Nozica seem great. I'm really excited my Uncle Ross plays over there now, he plays shortstop. I'm excited to take a few lessons from his I guess."
