School: Lincoln County Primary Sport: Softball It was a feat that very few saw coming, but last Thursday's AAA softball championship was a dream come true for Alyssa Cook and Lincoln County. "Its so exciting we've worked really hard to get to where we are at, and people were doubting us but here we are" said Cook. The title marks the first for the school in any sport, and Cook says its one her and her county will remember for a long time. "We are the first girls team to win a state championship and we've worked really hard to get here. We've beat some of the best teams in the state to get here and its so exciting." Cook was the Panthers leader in hits and rbis, and pulled together a great post-season, making the triple a all tournament team. "I've never done anything like this before I've worked really hard in the off season to get to where i'm at right now. I've worked out with the football team, everything I can get I've been doing." Cook carries a 4.0 GPA, working just as hard off the field as she does on the diamond. "Listen and work hard. I have a very tight schedule workout, study, and go to bed that's my life." The Panthers only lose two players from the 2011 squad, and they fully expect to be back in the same position a year from now. "As sad as we are to lose them. We can do this again next year because we have so many people that are so talented and we have more coming up. So, we are really excited for next year." |
