Scholar Athlete of the Week
from Eyewitness Sports Online

Student: Sara Sang
School: St. Joseph Central
Primary Sport: Basketball

She has been one of the most important faces for St. Joe basketball during its amazing championship run. And after another great game Saturday, Sarah Sang is bringing home her third state title.

"It feels so amazing, this is my last year and knowing that this is the last championship before i leave and hopefully the freshman continue to do it.," she said.

The 2011 campaign was a rough one of sorts for the Irish. The team endured a season of learning for several freshman and several losses. But Coach Shannon Lewis says sang was one the one who kept it together.

"She's the senior leader the captain. Shes a special player that matured into a great player and had a great game," Lewis said.

Next season Sang will take her talents to Navy, where she hopes to bring the same success she has had at st joe.

"Navy playing their championship today to move into the NCAA's. So I'm going to watch that and look forward to that next year.

Sang carries a 4.0 GPA. Showing her skills in the classroom as well.
Sarah sang: St Joe is a great school and all the students do really well and school before sports always.

Sang has seen it all in her four years at St. Joe, but these are memories that will last a lifetime.

"I keep them all, i have every trophy that i have ever gotten here. They are all at my house," she said.
