School: Teays Valley Christian Primary Sport: Basketball It has been a dream come true season for Elizabeth Yoder. Her Teays Valley Christian Lions have marched their way to the top, having one of the best records in school history. "We started off with two losses and a win and I don't think anyone expected us to do as well as we did but we played hard, said Yoder. Yoder put together her best year so far, leading the team in scoring and rebounds, while also showing off her leadership ability as well. "I wanted to be a good role model and example to the kids under me and encourage them to play well and to play as a team," she said. Yoder's senior campaign came to a screeching halt just days before the State (Christian) Tournament; hurting her ankle, making her unavailable at the most crucial time. "To look forward to something and finally go to the State Tournament and actually have a chance to win it for once and realize you're not going to be capable of doing it," she lamented. However, Yoder is keeping her head up, helping out her teammates from the bench. "I hope my presence excites my teammates to play to the best of their ability. To play hard and to play beyond themselves and their ability," she said. Yoder carries a 4.0 GPA, preparing herself for what lies next. "I've always enjoyed school work a whole lot and i want to prepare myself for college next year so this year has been a whole lot of hard work towards that," she said. After high school, Yoder plans to attend wvu to study french education. |
