School: South Charleston High School Primary Sport: Swimming Before his final season at South Charleston, Travis Green chose the blue waters of the Bluegrass State to continue his swimming career. "I'm really excited to swim with them next year up at UK," said Green. "It's definitely a relief knowing where you're going so soon in the year." This future Kentucky Wildcat has maintained a grade point average of 4.75 during his years at SC. "I try to find as much time for swimming and academics," said Green. "I'm really pleased with my GPA. I've taken some college courses recently, I'm happy with that." His coach, Sarah O'Connell, added. "He's also a leader in the school. He's a leader in the pool. Any time anybody needs extra help, he really knows what he's doing. He can't take kids to the side. He's just great; he knows exactly what to do. He's helped with practices...he's just a great swimmer." Green has four titles to his credit as a high school swimmer with more on the horizon at the state meet later this month. "It's always a little nerve-racking going into the state meet," he said. "You always want to do your best. But you're never really sure what to expect, but it's always fun." A relay crown is what he covets the most. "Phil Fisher, Tate Ewing, David Dent and I are hoping to do great in the medley relay and the 400 relay," he said. He's excelled in the classroom and the pool at SC, soon he'll embark on making a splash at UK. |
