School: Cabell Midland High School Primary Sport: Cross Country Trey Beckett came close to not having a senior year following offseason knee surgery. "I had a lot of cartilage removed from my right knee," he said. "I should have been out six months, I made it back in about two. Just training long runs everyday to made a comeback like that; it feels like it would take a lot but I'm just really thankful." Beckett didn't want to miss out running one last time in a Midland uniform. "It's a big privilege," he said, "a lot of good runners come out of this program." His love for running and academics is a winning combination. "One of my big goals is to run in college," he said. "So (I'm) doing a lot of school work, focusing on that and running. It's hard at times but somehow I pull it off." By the spring, Beckett hopes to be at full strength and wants to lead Midland to a 2nd straight Class AAA state track & field championship.
