School: Spring Valley High School
Primary Sport: Soccer
The building process for Timberwolves' soccer has been successful for Stos Hall and his coaching staff. As a senior Holland has enjoyed helping to lay the foundation.
"We have a lot of young players," said Holland. "I think if we build the program it's going to get a lot better."
Holland has been a key ingredient to getting things better for Spring Valley boys' soccer.
"(Holland's) another one of those guys whose come through the program and really helped get it to where we're at (in 2008)," said assistant coach Andy Wray. "We've had a better record this season than we did last year and the year before that. We're just building every year and he's a big part of our success."
There were several memorable moments during the '08 season.
"We played (Huntington) St. Joe and I think it's the first time we beat them in a long time," said Holland. "We beat them 4-1, so I'm pretty proud of that."
What Holland has enjoyed most was facing off with some of the state's very best programs in the Mountain State Athletic Conference.
"I'm just glad for the opportunity to get to play like really good teams," he said. "That really helps us develop our skills."
He's taken a serious approach to his classes and plans to major in psychology at Marshall.
"I had a psychology class when I was a junior and thought it was real interesting," he said. "(I) just kind of wanted to see where that goes."
Wray added, "He just gives you everything he's got day in and day out. (He) does really well in school; doesn't get into trouble. I've heard no complaints from this parents. He's a great kid and I've been very blessed to have him the last three years and I wish him the best in the future."
A future that is very bright.
