The season of 2008 has been a nice rebound for Kayla Bilak, who suffered a knee injury during her career.
"It kind of bummed me out because I did have to sit out a year doing physical therapy," said Bilak. "David Briscoe for MedCare did not let me give up; he kept me going. With all the support from my family and friends I had to come back out."
She enjoys being a part of a tight-knit group.
"Just real nice just knowing that we're all so close and that we all know each other's families. It's just real fun," she said.
Bilak's been among the area's top scorers all season long.
"A lot of that I owe to my brother because I really looked up to him in his soccer career. I always went to the games. All of his friends played soccer and all that so it just comes natural."
Not only has she scored on the field but in the classroom.
"I take a lot of honors classes - AP calculus, honors physics. And I'm on the yearbook staff. That kind of gives me a free block to kind of get some of my work caught up."
A perfect ending to the final season owuld be a spot in the triple-A field of four in Beckley next month.
