The Road To Wheeling Round 3: University
2009 West Virginia High School Football

Who says the No. 13 is unlucky? Don't tell that to the University Hawks. As the No. 13 seed in Class AAA, John Kelley's crew is just one win away from vying for a state championship in Wheeling.

The 9-3 Hawks will play at Brooke Memorial Stadium Saturday evening in Wellsburg against the No. 1 seeded and undefeated Bruins.

University has knocked off No. 4 Spring Valley and No. 5 Fairmont Senior to reach the semifinal round. Brooke has remained undefeated with victories over Princeton and Ripley.

The Class AAA championship game is set for noon Saturday, December 5, at Wheeling Island Stadium.
