The Road To Wheeling Super Six: South Charleston
2009 West Virginia High School Football

The South Charleston Black Eagles set out this weekend to claim a second straight Class AAA state championship. The Black Eagles, 12-1, will meet undefeated Brooke at Wheeling Island Stadium. SC is the No. 2 seed and Brooke comes in at No. 1.

SC rolled through the 2008 season with a perfect 14-0 record and won the state title over Kanawha Valley rival George Washington.

John Messinger's Eagles will try to become the third school in a six-season span to win back-to-back AAA crowns. Morgantown (2004-05) and Parkersburg (2006-07) each claimed two straight before the Black Eagles won last year.

SC will be trying to win its third title at Wheeling Island Stadium. The Black Eagles of head coach Bryce Casto won the title in '94 over University - the first year the championships were moved to Wheeling.

The game Saturday, December 5, kicks off at noon.
