The Road To Wheeling: Roane County
2009 West Virginia High School Football

The Roane County Raiders had a horrific start to the 2009 season. The Raiders lost their first three games. Plus, the team's trainer died tragically.

The team, though, fought back and earned one of the 16 spots in the Class AA playoff field for the third time in the past four years.

The 6-4 Raiders are the 15th seed and will go against unbeaten and number two seed Magnolia in the opening round. Magnolia finished as runners-up a year ago to Grafton in the Class AA title game at Wheeling Island Stadium.

The Raiders and Blue Eagles will collide Friday night at New Martinsville's Alumni Field.

In its 17th year of existence, this Raider team will try to produce the school's first playoff victory in upset fashion.

We visit with Roane County head coach Tom Hardman on "The Road to Wheeling."
