The Road To Wheeling Round 2: Ripley
2009 West Virginia High School Football

The Ripley Vikings returned to the Class AAA playoffs for the first time since 2002 last Saturday and did so in successful fashion. The No. 9 Vikings defeated Nicholas County, 21-14, at Summerville's Memorial Stadium.

The 9-2 Vikings now head north this weekend to meet up with No. 1 and undefeated Brooke at Brooke Memorial Stadium Saturday (Nov. 21) afternoon.

Ripley's playoff win was its fourth in school history. Three of Ripley's seven playoff losses have come against Brooke. The Vikings lost to the Bruins in 1986 at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, at Wheeling Island Stadium in 1987 and at Ripley's Memorial Stadium in 1989.

The winner meets the University-Fairmont Senior winner in the semifinals.
