The Road To Wheeling Round 1: Gilbert
2009 West Virginia High School Football

It was a rough offseason for the Gilbert Lions. Devastating flood waters in the community wiped out the team's chances of preparing for the 2009 campaign.

The Gilbert area is full of tough kids, and the Lions of '09 nailed down the 16th and final playoff spot in the Class A field.

The Lions will have the difficult task of going against top-seeded Weirton Madonna (10-0) on Friday (November 13) night at Jimmy Carey Stadium in Weirton. Considering what many of these young men have been through off the field, no task is too difficult for the Lions.

We visit with Gilbert head coach Gordon Carter on "The Road to Wheeling."
