The Road To Wheeling: George Washington
2009 West Virginia High School Football

Members of the George Washington football team left Wheeling Island Stadium last December with broken hearts. The Patriots had fallen for only the second time in 2008. Once again they had fallen to South Charleston, and this time it was for the championship of Class AAA.

GW is back in the Class AAA playoff field once again as the sixth-seeded team. The Patriots finished the season at 8-2 and will now go against 11th-seed Capital (6-4) in the opening round. GW knocked off the Cougars during the regular season, 14-0. The second meeting unfolds Friday night (November 13) at UC Stadium in Charleston.
