The Road To Wheeling Super Six: Bluefield
2009 West Virginia High School Football

The Bluefield Beavers are heading to a state championship game once again. Friday night, December 4, the 11-2 Beavers will oppose the 13-0 Wayne Pioneers for the state championship.

Bluefield, the No. 6 seed, earned the right to play for the title thanks to a 13-10 win in the semifinal round over previously undefeated Magnolia, 13-10.

Bluefield has played for 15 state championships in school history. Bluefield has won three at Wheeling Island Stadium, the last coming in 2006 with the others taking place in 1997 and 2004. The 2004 title victory was a 69-24 win over Wayne.

Bluefield lost title games in '95 '99, '00, '02, '03 and '05.

Bluefield won AAA championships in '62, '65, '67, '75 and '84.
