HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (Jeff Morris) -- Marshall University Athletic Director Mike Hamrick said Friday that Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Herrion decided to resign after the two men met to discuss the program.

During a news conference, Hamrick said he met with Herrion earlier in the day and they each gave their thoughts on the struggling basketball program, which went 67-67 during Herrion's four-year tenure.

"At the end of the meeting, Tom announced his decision he was resigning his position as basketball coach," Hamrick said.

The athletic director said the search for a new coach will begin immediately.

The attached video is the second part of the footage from that news conference.
